Library Instruction Room Use Policy
Purpose: To identify the groups/individuals authorized to use the Library Instruction Room ("LIR", LI106) including registration procedures, and regulations, while acknowledging the library instruction program as the primary purpose of the room.
Policy: The LIR is designated for approved events during the Library’s normal hours of operation only. Events considered acceptable use include:
- Library instruction or information literacy sessions
- Library-sponsored events
- Occasional class meetings that require use of the room’s instructional technology equipment
- College administrative departmental training/events that require use of the room’s instructional technology equipment
The LIR is not available for semester-long scheduling of meetings or courses or for multiple meetings of scheduled academic classes (since those classes have assigned rooms and scheduling would negate the availability of blocks for course-specific library instruction). FP students may use the room if they are presenting during an approved event. Multiple (ongoing) bookings are not allowed. Events are to be approved by and scheduled with Ben Treat (Reference/Serials Librarian). Prior to initial use, the responsible party will schedule a training session on the equipment with Mark Thamm (Media Services Specialist) or, in his absence, the Reference/Serials Librarian.
Those authorized to use the LIR will be responsible for the LIR and its equipment. Users will agree to make no modifications to the equipment configuration and will ensure that LIR is as functional upon completion of the event as it was when they gained access to it. They will close windows and lock the door after use. Violation of this policy may result in the loss of LIR use privileges at the discretion of the Director of Library Services.
If a proposed use is not approved, the requestor will be referred to the Media Services Specialist to schedule similar equipment for use in another location.
