Media Services

Media Services manages, operates and maintains the College's media equipment and services. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis, although priority is given to classroom use. Basic equipment is stored in each classroom building. Requests for equipment in other campus buildings or off-campus locations must be approved by the Media Services Specialist. Facilities work orders for delivery and return of equipment are the responsibility of the requesting department.

Contact

For more information contact Mark Thamm, Media Services Specialist, at 603/899-4141 or email thammm@franklinpierce.edu

Hours of Operation

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Special Event hours as needed, with appropriate advanced notice.

Reservation Procedures

To reserve equipment, please call 603/899-1148 at least 72 hours in advance. Because of the high demand for data projectors, we strongly recommend that reservations be made at least one week in advance. Student organizations may reserve equipment through the Student Activities office in the Campus Center. Non-classroom requests may require additional notice to assure availability and delivery arrangements. Delivery of some larger equipment is done by Facilities and requires an additional Facilities work order.

Data Projector Use

Who May Use the Equipment? To better coordinate classroom requests, we will only accept equipment reservations from faculty members for classroom use. If students need a computer and/or a projector for classroom presentations, the appropriate faculty member must make the reservation. If the user is providing the computer, we recommend scheduling a rehearsal at least 72 hours in advance to ensure the compatibility of the computer and projector. If this rehearsal is not scheduled or the user fails to attend, we cannot guarantee that the equipment will work properly in the classroom. If the user is a guest coming from off-campus, we recommend at least one hour prior to the presentation to allow time for set-up and a brief rehearsal. We have also found that e-mailing the presentation to us in advance is a good way to eliminate most last minute problems. How to use a data projector: PDF document

Ask Media Services for hands-on instruction for any piece of equipment as needed.

The Depot

The Depot is a branch of the Library’s Media Services group, which works closely with the Mass Communications Department. The Depot provides the students of the Franklin Pierce community with professional grade video and audio field equipment for student films, documentaries, video or audio recording, or any technical production needs. The Depot is also responsible for six non-linear computer based editing suites, that feature both Avid xPress Pro version 5.6, and Adobe Audition, version 2. The Depot office is located in the Fitzwater Center for Communication on the third floor of the Library, towards the rear of the building (adjacent to the TV studio)
