Doctor of Arts Program—Library Orientation—Resources

The Franklin Pierce University Library maintains print and electronic collections that are accessible to you for your research.

Printed Collections

Books, journal titles, DVDs, VHS tapes, sound recordings, and eBooks can be found in the library's Online Catalog. Circulating books and videos can be sent to your campus for you to use.

Articles and Online Resources

Individual articles in journals and other periodicals can be located through our online databases. These databases contain the full text of many periodical articles. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to view, print, or save many of these articles on your computer. This software is loaded on the computers in the Franklin Pierce University campuses.

You will need to "log in" to use these databases when you are not using a computer on a Franklin Pierce campus. Your eCollege username/password is not the correct password to use for this purpose. The DA program has its own username and password, shared among all members of the program. You received this username and password, on the "Accessing Library Materials" handout provided at your orientation session, and you can get the password by contacting your campus office (Concord: 603-228-1155; Lebanon: 603-298-5549; Portsmouth: 603-433-2000).

To find a list of library databases by subject, please review our research guides.

Borrowing Materials From Other Libraries

Can’t find the material you need in our catalog? Franklin Pierce University's membership in the New Hampshire College and University Consortium (NHCUC) allows our faculty, staff, and students borrowing privileges at most other NHCUC libraries. Specific loan policies will vary from library to library, but (with the exception of Dartmouth College) members of the Franklin Pierce University community may borrow from NHCUC libraries' circulating collections upon presentation of a valid Franklin Pierce ID card. If you do not have an Franklin Pierce University ID, please contact your campus administrative office. If you are unable to go to the library in question, you may also request materials through Interlibrary Loan, as described in the Off-Campus Access section of this tutorial.
