Global Citizens Report on Conference On “The Media And Muslims” At Suny-Stony Brook
Monday, December 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Instruction Room, A Celebration of the Liberal Arts program:
Four members of the Global Citizens Certificate program attended a one-day conference at SUNY-Stony Brook on how the US media depicts Muslims. They will report out on their findings, having participated in discussions on what is wrong with the American media and how we can improve relations between the US and the Muslim world.

Gamers Club Exhibit: Scott McCloud and the Comic Book
On display at the Library through November 17th, the Gamers Club is exhibiting a selection of books on the comic book genre and several titles by Scott McCloud, world-renowned comic artist and author of Understanding Comics and other books.

The Food and Drug Administration has just issued a recall of acetaminophen bottles after discovering contamination with metal shards. See the FDA website for more information and batch numbers and brands. The recall does not include Tylenol. October 20-November 10

In the Celebration of the Liberal Arts monthly series, Professor Frank Cohen presents lessons learned during recent polling in Rindge, specifically what he learned from his experience as author and administrator of the survey and the findings and knowledge gained from the survey itself. Database Trials from Routledge

The FP Library has two active reference database trials from Europa.

World of Learning is an online version of a reference book which provides information about educational institutions, organized by the nation in which they are based.

Europa World Plus provides details about the media, culture, economy, financial institutions, and political structure and officials of all the nations of the world.

FP faculty, staff, and students have free on-campus access to these databases through the end of October.

EBSCOhost Logo
Two EBSCOhost Trials

The FP also has two active reference database trials from EBSCOhost.

Environment Complete indexes over 1600 environmental science and ecology sources, with full-text coverage of dozens of peer-reviewed ES journals not currently available at FP.

Education Research Complete provides access to full-text sources from scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, and other reports.

FP faculty, staff, and students have free on- and off-campus access to these databases through the end of December.

New Database Trials

The FP Library has just activated trial access to two ProQuest databases: a National Newspaper collection and a Curriculum Package of scholarly and trade journals.

FP faculty, staff, and students have free trial access to these databases through the end of November, on or off campus.

Gallup Logo
Polling Database Trial

The FP Library has also activated trial access to Gallup Brain, "...a searchable ... record of 70 years of public opinion [including] answers to more than 136,000 [poll] questions [asked of over] 3.5 million people ... since 1935." This database would be useful to people researching consumer confidence, political issues, social attitudes, and favorability of particular politicians over time.

FP faculty, staff, and students have free on-campus access to these databases through Friday, November 3.

Password Change For Off-Campus Access to Databases
Are you a student at an FP campus other than Rindge? The password you use for access to databases recently changed for security reasons. Contact your campus office or program or look in eCollege (eLL) for the new password.

New DVD Cases
DVDs at the FP Library are on shelf in a new type of case. Just bring your selections to the circulation desk. We'll remove the outer case and check the DVDs out to you. No more waiting while we get the DVDs for you!

On display April 17-May 12

An exhibit featuring the focus of senior Alicia Ferron's thesis and internship work at the Peterborough Historical Society: photographs from the Robert Swain Morison Collection. Taken between 1870-1900, these photographs depict Monadnock region landscapes, homes and farms, and the family homestead in Peterborough.


Extended Library Hours During Finals

During the final exam period, the Library will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 12 midnight daily, beginning Wednesday, May 3. On May 9th, the Library will close at 8:00 p.m.

Summer hours will be posted shortly.

Early Morning Service Disruption April 20 & 21st

The Library website and catalog will be unavailable between 7:30am-8:30am on Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21st for server maintainance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

An exhibit of Pastime Amusements from the Collection of Don B. Wilmeth, Professor Emeritus, Brown University, including items on early circus, Wild West shows, fairs, pleasure gardens and expositions, wax museums, variety forms (minstrelsy, vaudeville, burlesque, etc.), and popular actors of the turn of the 20th century and their signature roles.

The Library welcomes new employee Marlene Damery to its staff. Marlene serves as Circulation Assistant and has prior library experience in academic and public libraries.
